TikTok Shop and social enterprise Hapinoy have teamed up to help sari-sari store owners, especially women, learn how to sell online using social commerce tools through a training session held in the Philippines.

Over 40 members of the Hapinoy network participated in the session, which introduced TikTok Shop’s tools for content creation, affiliate marketing, and livestream selling—practical solutions for store owners to earn more from home.
“TikTok Shop is committed to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises, who form the backbone of the Philippine economy, through accessible digital tools,” said Franco Aligaen, Marketing Lead, TikTok Shop Philippines. “Partnering with organizations like Hapinoy allows us to reach more local entrepreneurs and develop more online savvy business owners to thrive in the changing digital landscape.”

The training is part of TikTok Shop’s Unlad Lokal program, launched in March with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), to equip MSMEs with practical digital skills and support.
Hapinoy Co-Founder Mark Ruiz emphasized the alignment between their mission and TikTok Shop’s goals. “Our mission at Hapinoy has always been to help sari-sari store owners grow their businesses while serving their communities. This aligns perfectly with TikTok Shop, which provides a dynamic and accessible platform where our members can expand their businesses,” he said.

Ruiz added, “Live selling and affiliate marketing on TikTok Shop are very convenient for our women entrepreneurs. It’s something they can do from their mobile phones while at home, where their sari-sari stores are usually located. That’s a big help in balancing household and business responsibilities.”
Participants shared how the hands-on training inspired them to explore digital sales. Jennifer Fernando from Quezon City said, “Most businesses now are already online. If I want more people to see my store and products, I need to keep up.”

Mary Grace Lee from Valenzuela added, “Even a small extra income through affiliate links or online sales can go a long way for my family.”
Maria Rica Yoshida from Binangonan also noted, “As long as you have a phone, internet, and the courage to try, you can already start earning from home.”
“We truly believe that TikTok Shop is a gamechanger,” Ruiz said. “By expanding sari-sari stores’ category and product mix, and providing accessible tools they can use to grow their businesses, TikTok Shop is able to help them earn more for their families.”
Unlad Lokal will continue to roll out training programs in partnership with local government units (LGUs) to reach more MSMEs across the country.
