Toyo Eatery in Makati City has been named as one of the new restaurants on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 list sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna.

Toyo Eatery placed 43rd in the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants and the Philippines’ Best Restaurant for 2019 selected by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, an influential group of more than 300 leaders in the restaurant industry across Asia.

The World’s 50 Best website describes the Manila restaurant as “Innovative Filipino chef Jordy Navarra showcases his country’s culture on a plate.”

The Modern Filipino restaurant’s standout dish was identified as the Banana Catsup with Tortang Talong, described by Toyo Eatery as made with homemade banana vinegar and aged bananas and plantains, plus a hint of tomatoes and chilis for color and spice perfectly paired with Tortang Talong.

Toyo Eatery (named after the ordinary Filipino household soy sauce condiment) was opened in 2016 by Filipino Chef Navarra “founded on a philosophy of re-discovery of national identity through the country’s products, cuisine and culture.”

The restaurant makes its debut in this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list after being awarded the Miele One To Watch in 2018.
