University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) 2019 Cheerdance Champion National University (NU) PEP Squad will be representing the Philippines in two world cheerleading championships in Florida, U.S.A.

The Philippine Cheerleading Alliance (PCA) announced on its Facebook page on February 5, 2020, that the UAAP cheerdance champions will represent the country at the All Star Federation Open Championships and the International Cheer Union (ICU) World Cheerleading Championships.

Team Philippines will be among the competing countries at the All Star Federation Open Championships scheduled on April 24 to 26.

The NU Pep Squad will afterwards vie in the prestigious COED ELITE Division of the ICU World Cheerleading Championships to be held from April 26 to 28 at the ESPN Area in Disneyland Orlando.

The 6-time UAAP Cheerdance champions is back to represent the Philippines after winning bronze at the 2015 ICU World Cheerleading Championships.

In their social media, the NU PEP Squad posted a teaser about their routine and exhibition.

“Last UAAP CDC we took you to the Philippines, now we are taking the Philippines to the World,” the page said in its post.

The team is also raising funds for the competition through shirts and merchandise.

The PCA shared to GoodNewsPilipinas.com that the Philippine delegation will also include the All Girls Advanced squad which is composed of some of the best athletes from the best programs in the country who were selected through tryouts. The Advanced division features athletes 12-16 years old. The NU Pep Squad leads the delegation going to Worlds Competitions with at least 48 athletes, 7 coaches, 10 managers, and 5 PCA officials — not yet including the parents and relatives accompanying the young Filipino athletes.

More Filipino world cheerdance achievements came in 2019 with the University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad bagging silver and bronze at the 2019 Cheerleading World Championships held in Japan.

The Adamson Pep Squad ruled the 2018 Cheerleading Invitational Championships in Singapore clinching 3 golds and 1 silver.
