The University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) have made remarkable leaps in the latest UniRank most popular universities list, leaping into the Top 200 Universities in Asia and improving their world ranking.

UP Diliman now proudly ranks 51st, while Ateneo is in the 170th spot on the UniRank Top 200 Asia released on July 31, 2023, showcasing the persistent reputation of the two prestigious higher education institutions in the Philippines. UniRank features reviews and rankings of more than 13,800 officially recognized universities and colleges in 200 countries across the globe.

A Consistent Track Record

These two neighboring Quezon City universities have consistently topped many annual rankings of the best universities in the Philippines, including the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

Their performance in UniRank has similarly been unwavering through the past years, with UP maintaining the top 1 spot and Ateneo ranked top 2.

UP Diliman: The Nation’s Pride

The University of the Philippines Diliman, recognized as the nation’s premier state university, has maintained its top spot in the Country Ranking. Beyond local triumphs, UP’s Asian ranking soared to the 51st place. In an impressive feat, its world ranking also ascended 780 spots, reaching the 631st position in 2023, a significant improvement from the 1411th place in 2021.

Ateneo De Manila: The Rising Blue Eagles

Ateneo de Manila University whose students are given the moniker Blue Eagles, secured 2nd place in the Country Ranking for the 4th consecutive year. This academic powerhouse didn’t stop there, as it also clinched the 170th place in the Asia Ranking. Globally, Ateneo’s rank surged to 1372nd, a remarkable rise by 678 notches from its 2050th position in 2021.

An Unbiased Assessment

What sets UniRank’s ranking apart from others is its methodology. Instead of relying on information provided by the universities themselves, the non-academic League Table of the Top Universities in Asia is based on reliable, objective, and non-influenceable web metrics. These metrics are carefully analyzed from independent web intelligence sources, ensuring unbiased results.

UP Diliman and Ateneo de Manila University’s outstanding performance in national, continental, and international rankings is not only a testament to their dedication to academic excellence but also a reflection of the growing prominence of Philippine educational institutions on the global stage. Their achievements, recognized by reputable ranking organizations like UniRank, illustrate a bright future for the Philippine educational system and inspire the continued pursuit of excellence.

With these recognitions, the youth, educators, and stakeholders in the education sector are further encouraged to strive for higher standards, reflecting the very essence of the Philippine spirit of excellence and resilience.
