Three students from the Victory Christian International School (VCIS) and Philippine Science High School (PSHS) – Main Campus in Metro Manila, and PSHS – Central Mindanao Campus in Lanao del Norte emerged as this year’s winners of the 25th Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO).

The winners will be invited to the Math Olympiad Summer Camp, the next stage of the selection process for the Philippine representatives to the 64th International Mathematical Olympiad to be held in Chiba, Japan in July 2023.

South Africa International Mathematics Competition gold medalist Filbert Ephraim S. Wu of the Victory Christian International School (VCIS) led the winners as the champion of the PMO. Wu received PhP25,000 along with a medal, trophy, and certificate.

Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (BMO) gold medalist and Mohammad Nur Casib of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) – Central Mindanao Campus was declared first runner-up of the nationwide tilt supported by the Mathematical Society of the Philippines and the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute. He also received the runner-up prize of PhP20,000 along with a medal, trophy, and certificate.

Pisay Main Campus’ bronze medalist from the International Olympiad in Informatics Singapore, Raphael Dylan T. Dalida, was named second runner-up of the competition. He also received PhP 15,000 as well as a medal, trophy, and certificate.

The winners of the PMO were announced during the awarding ceremony at the University of the Philippines Diliman on March 19, 2023.

All three of the winners represented the Philippines and secured medals and honorable mentions at last year’s IMO in Oslo, Norway, considered the world championship of high school mathematics competitions.
