Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues & You host Josh Dela Cruz and his Lola are celebrating Filipino pride with a catchy song in honor of Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month in May.
Josh and his Filipino grandma or Lola played by veteran actress Carolyn Fe bring Pinoy culture and traditions to the popular children’s television series as they spend quality time together in the show.
The long-running children’s show, with its Filipino-American host Josh, earlier introduced Lola as a new Filipino character who visited Josh and Blue in an episode that highlights the importance of friendship and familial love.
The “Blue’s Clues & You” episode featured Filipino culture and traditions such as bibingka, a sweet Filipino rice cake that Blue and Josh made just for Josh’s Lola, as well as the Pinoy sign or gesture of respect to the elderly, the “mano po.”
With AAPI Heritage Month coming up, Dela Cruz and his Lola are once again celebrating their Pinoy roots in a new video that tells the world what it means to be Filipino.
In the video, Dela Cruz and his Lola dance and sing along to an upbeat tune with Blue and their friends as the lyrics share what it means to be Filipino such as spending time with one’s family, loving music, and falling in love with the Philippines.
The video was uploaded on the “Blue’s Clues & You!” YouTube channel on April 14, 2022, and also showcases Filipino food, the Philippine flag, and the country’s scenic beaches.
Fil-Am Josh Dela Cruz is starring in the new Blue’s Clues movie with the popular children’s television series’ former hosts from across the years, Steve Burns (Steve) and Donovan Patton (Joe).
Earlier this year, Filipino American Grammy winner H.E.R. was a guest star on Blue’s Clues & You.
