One of the world’s most famous chefs, Alain Ducasse, regularly visits the Philippines to teach Filipino street children how to cook.

Chef Alain’s mission is coursed through the “Youth With a Future” scholarship program through the Ducasse Education Philippines.

Ducasse’s program aims to provide street children an opportunity to change their lot in life by becoming world class chefs through scholarships given to a select group of culinary students of Tuloy Foundation, an organization that provides shelter and education for street children.

In an ANC interview the world renowned French chef says he wants to show through the program what can be done and hopes to keep inspiring future chefs. “You must work more, improve yourself, get better and have excellent standards everyday,” he reminded them.

“But you must also find pleasure in your work,” he cautioned. “It is a decision. If you do not find pleasure, change jobs.” He also encouraged his students to continue dreaming. “There is no limit (to dreaming and achieving your dreams)!”

Youth With a Future reports that out of the 30 former scholars, one is in Ducasse Sur Seine in Paris, France, seven are employed in Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, three in the OSM Shipping Lines, and nineteen placed in Philippine restaurants including Vask, Cirkulo, Milky Way, Cafe 1771, Tamarind Thai Restaurant, and Restaurant 101.

Chef Alain again visited Manila in late November 2018 to attend a charity dinner organized by the Enderun Colleges Manila and Tuloy Foundation to benefit his continuing mission of educating Filipino youth to be world class chefs.

The event showcased produce from the Philippines used as ingredients for the dinner prepared by Ducasse Education Philippines’ chefs and students.

Alain Ducasse has opened cooking schools all over the world including the Ducasse Education Philippines, while running several restaurants. He has written numerous cookbooks such as the Alain Ducasse Culinary Encyclopedia. His consulting activities include serving astronaut meals for the European Space Agency.
