Filipino film “Write About Love” won the ABC TV Award at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2020.
The 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) award-winning film’s new international recognition from the Japanese festival was announced by the film’s production company TBA Studios on Monday, March 15, 2020 (Philippine Time).
“Our #MMFF2019 award-winning film, , won the at the recently held ! Arigatou gozaimasu,” posted TBA Studios on social media.
“It is a wonderful comedy that is bright and energetic to watch even though it incorporates serious themes,” the Osaka jury said about Crisanto Aquino’s romance film.
“The technical aspects of the film are elaborate as reflected in the aspect ratio. Scenes taking place in the real world are shot in 4☓3, the movie scenes are 16☓9, and eventually, the two worlds are mixed,” the festival jurors added.
Write About Love revolves around the story of a romantic amateur writer and a veteran male indie film writer who collaborated and fell in love in the process of completing an unfinished script love story.
The Osaka-awarded film stars Rocco Nacino, Miles Ocampo, Yeng Constantino, and Joem Bascon and is one of the eight official entries at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2019.
Write About Love bagged the trophies for 2nd Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Song, Best Musical Score, Best Editing, and Special Jury Prize in the MMFF 2019.
Filipino films showcasing Philippine moviemaking include the multi-awarded indie film, “John Denver Trending” which recently swept 3 major awards at the 26th International Festival of Asian Cinemas in Vesoul, France, and Sonny Calvento’s short film “Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss” currently representing the Philippines in the 22nd Mecal, Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes y Animación de Barcelona in Spain.
