How Did These 4 UP Alumni Make It to Forbes ‘30 Under 30 Asia’ 2025?

UP alumni Ysabel Chua, Renren Galeno, Anna Beatriz Suavengco, and Jasper Ruby Vijar join the 2025 Forbes ‘30 Under 30 Asia’ list for their outstanding achievements in business, art, medicine, and sustainability.

Four University of the Philippines (UP) alumni have been named to the prestigious Forbes ‘30 Under 30 Asia’ list for 2025, recognizing their achievements in venture capital, art, medicine, and sustainability.

Ysabel Chua from UP Diliman is the first hire of Singapore-based venture capital firm Forge Ventures. She has helped expand its portfolio to 16 startups, including Indonesia’s supply chain startup Baskit and Singapore’s Prefer.

Renee Francesca “Renren” Galeno, also from UP Diliman, is a Davao-based comic book artist and illustrator. She won a 2024 National Book Award for her graphic novel Sa Wala and became a Pulitzer Finalist for Best Illustrated Reporting and Commentary for Searching for Maura published by The Washington Post.

Anna Beatriz Suavengco from UP Los Baños is a science communicator and entrepreneur behind Urban Farmer TV, an edtech platform teaching hydroponic farming at home. She has built a strong following on TikTok and YouTube, with around 260,000 combined followers.

Jasper Ruby Vijar from UP Visayas is a physician and co-founder of Team Dugong Bughaw, an NGO he started in 2015. The group promotes adolescent and sexual health among Ilonggo-speaking youth by providing reproductive health education, condoms, and HIV testing in Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo.

The Forbes list has honored outstanding individuals under 30 since 2011. Each honoree is selected based on social and industry impact, product-market fit, creativity, and future potential.

To qualify, nominees must have been under the age of 30 as of December 31, 2024.
