Aboitiz Group’s Project Antibody Rapid Test-kit (ARK) has donated 5,400 COVID-19 test kits to the province of Batangas in its first donation outside of Metro Manila.

The provincial government of Batangas received the test kits from Project ARK, a mass screening project using Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and antibody rapid testing aligned with the Department of Health guidelines.

The test kits received by the Batangas government on June 3, 2020, will be distributed to the different towns and cities of the province including Sto. Tomas, Malvar, Tanauan, San Juan, Nasugbu, Provincial Capitol, and Batangas Police Provincial Office.

The donation of Aboitiz Group to Batangas aligns with its thrust to support communities affected by the Covid-19 crisis along with their admiration for their Batangueno members.

“We have seen the Batangueno spirit through our members in the Aboitiz Group. Despite the challenges of starting from Taal eruption down to COVID-19 pandemic, they were still there and rendering services to the company,” said Clifford Academia, AVP of Industrial Business Unit, Lima Technology Center of the Aboitiz Group.

“They serve as our backbone in supporting Batangas Province in the fight against COVID-19,” Academia remarked about the Batanguenos’ resiliency and good nature despite calamities.

Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas said, “we would like to wholeheartedly thank our friends in the business sector who are willing to invest resources to make certain that our people, who are also the lifeblood of our economy, are healthy, safe, and secured in the face of this pandemic.”

The Local Government Units will undergo training regarding the implementation of the Project ARK on June 9, 2020.

The first Philippine-made COVID-19 test kit was developed by the University of the Philippines National Institutes of Health with support from the Department of Science and Technology.

SMC also donated swabbing booths and test kits to increase Metro Manila’s COVID-19 mass testing capacity.

SEND CHEERS in the comments below to Aboitiz Group’s Project ARK and the people of Batangas for providing ways for more COVID-19 testing.
