Philippine heroes featured in new Tahanan Books collection for children

Filipino children can now learn and get inspiration from the life stories of Philippine heroes in the newly released Great Lives book series of Tahanan Books.

Ten Philippine heroes are featured in a new collection of children’s’ books released by Tahanan Books.

Ilaw ng Tahanan Publishing, Inc. initially announced on September 14, 2020, the release of its new editions of the Great Lives book series that was first released in 1992 and 1998 to inspire young minds with the life stories of Filipino heroes. The new 2020 editions feature updated covers, book design, and research updates for some titles.

“The riveting life stories of our Philippine heroes can inspire children, students, and the next generation of community leaders. Share your love of history by bringing home Tahanan’s award-winning Great Lives Library,” Tahanan Books said on its Facebook post.

On September 24, the publishing company announced that interested buyers can now place their orders through www.tahananbooks.ph

Here are the ten Filipino heroes whose life stories are featured in Tahanan Books’ Great Lives book series:

1. Gabriela Silang
2. Jose Rizal
3. Andres Bonifacio
4. Emilio Aguinaldo
5. Apolinario Mabini
6. Teodora Alonso
7. Antonio Luna
8. Juan Luna
9. Manuel Quezon
10. Ninoy Aquino

The Great Lives book series can be purchased in a bundle will also receive a free copy of a book about the life story of Mother Ignacia, until supplies last.

Filipino publishing companies have been creating learning materials for children amid the new modes of schooling in this time of the coronavirus pandemic.

In January, Adarna House collaborated with Greenpeace Southeast Asia to release a picture book about ocean plastic pollution titled “Bayan ng Basura”.

University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) published free and downloadable children’s e-books entitled “Ang Mga Maskara ni Miko” and “Isang Metro” explaining practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
