Metro Manila today welcomed its 8-Millionth and 8-Millionth-and-1 tourists Yachiyo Imamoto and her husband, Tamio, from Yokohama, Japan.

The 71-year-old Yachiyo is visiting the Philippines for the 8th time. The Japanese couple arrived at the at NAIA Teminal 3 at 120pm via All Nippon Airways Flight 869 and were welcomed by Assistant Secretary for Tourism Development Roberto P. Alabado III.

The welcome ceremonies is part of the Tourism Department’s tradition of celebrating significant arrivals of foreign tourists in the country. The DOT had previously welcomed the 5-Millionth Visitor in 2015 and the One-Millionth Korean visitor in 2012.

In a media briefing, Tamio Imamoto said that they love the warm weather, the tropical fruits, and the warm hospitality of the Filipinos.
