YouTube has officially launched its Shopping affiliate program in the Philippines through a partnership with Shopee, giving Filipino content creators and online sellers new ways to reach audiences and drive sales through video content.
With the launch, the Philippines becomes one of six Southeast Asian countries to host YouTube Shopping, a feature that allows creators to directly tag Shopee products in their videos and livestreams. Viewers can now shop seamlessly without leaving the YouTube platform—products appear in the video description and dedicated product sections, making checkout faster and easier.
The initiative supports both Shopee sellers and Filipino creators. Shopee sellers can connect with content creators to tap into their communities, while creators earn commissions for every sale driven by their product recommendations.
“This collaboration opens up exciting opportunities for the growing number of Filipino content creators to monetize their creativity while promoting products that resonate with their audiences,” said Vincent Lee, Head of Shopee Philippines.
“YouTube Shopping will continue to grow, unlocking new opportunities for viewers, creators, brands, and partners across this dynamic region,” added Sapna Chadha, Vice President for Google Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier.
The launch reflects the fast-growing trend of video commerce across Southeast Asia. In 2024, video commerce surged to account for 20% of the region’s e-commerce value—quadrupling since 2022. In the Philippines, over 450 YouTube channels have more than one million subscribers, and more than 6,000 channels have surpassed 100,000 subscribers.
Local creators like Camille Co and Mond Salem of Hardware Voyage have welcomed the launch. “Now with YouTube Shopping, it’s so much easier to share these products that I love and truly believe in,” said Co. “A huge plus also for me because I get to earn on the side while doing so!” Salem added, “I’m so excited… I’m looking forward to me and my fellow creators earning more with featured product sale commissions.”
Advertisers are also expected to benefit from the rollout. YouTube Shopping enables more targeted campaigns by linking branded content to creator videos. A case study from L’Oréal Thailand showed a 10x increase in high-intent views and better cost-per-visit outcomes.
In just seven months since launching regionally, the YouTube Shopping affiliate program has shown strong results. Beauty and fashion creator Mai Trinh Hồ saw her income increase by nearly five times, while tech creator Jagat Review from Indonesia reported that half of his earnings came from the affiliate program.
As Filipino Gen Z consumers seek more content-driven shopping experiences, YouTube Shopping’s integration with Shopee meets their evolving preferences—offering fun, trust-based, and seamless shopping journeys online.
