The number of Philippine universities included in the Universitas Indonesia GreenMetric World University Ranking (UI GreenMetric WUR) has risen to 10 in the 2022 edition of the green campus and environmental sustainability listing.

The 10 Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) in the 2022 UI GreenMetric WUR include two Lasallian schools, two Ateneo schools, 5 state universities, and 1 from Manila. Eight of the HEIs were also in the 2021 UI GreenMetric edition, while 5 were in the 2020 UIGM WUR. Two new entries complete the ten Philippine universities in the UI GreenMetric WUR released in December 2022.

The greenest campuses in the Philippines were ranked among the world’s 1,050 most sustainable universities led by the Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands, based on 39 indicators in 6 criteria – setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, and education and research – which measured the universities’ environmental commitment and initiatives.

De La Salle University-Dasmariñas marked its 10th year as the Philippines’ most sustainable university, receiving the highest rank at 274th place with a score of 7100 points, while De La Salle University Manila followed in 302nd place with 6970 points.

Public universities in the ranking include Tarlac Agricultural University (317th),
Batangas State University (New entry at 351st), Mariano Marcos State University (New entry at 356th), Bataan Peninsula State University (567th), and Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (650th).

Jesuit-administered HEIs in the list are Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan (664th) and Ateneo de Davao University (758th).
