An 8-year-old chess player from Bulacan, Daniela Bianca Cruz, bagged three silver medals at the 20th ASEAN Age Group Chess Championship in Mandalay City, Myanmar.

The chess player from Malolos won medals in three different categories at the ASEAN chess competition on June 16.

Cruz’ father shared in a GMA News interview that his daughter started playing chess at the age two. The young Bulakenya chess player started joining competitions when she was five years old.

The promising young Filipina chess player vowed to enhance her skills for future competitions.

“Mas gagalingan ko po maglaro (ng) chess,” Daniela Bianca Cruz said on the GMA News report.
