The Philippines scored four Forbes Travel 5-Star Awards in the 2019 property ranking.

Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards named 12 Philippine hotels and one spa in its 2019 listing of the world’s best luxury properties released on February 22.

Leading the Philippines’ Forbes Travel Star Awardees is The Peninsula Manila which received its inaugural 5-Star award in the 61st edition of the annual listing.

The Peninsula Manila raises Manila’s full star awardees to four along with the three other 5-Star Manila hotels which were cited in the 2018 edition of the annual property rating.

Five Manila hotels received the 4-Star rating, 3 hotels also in Manila were Recommended, and 1 Manila spa received 4 Stars.

The Forbes reveals its property rating is based on the evaluation of inspectors who checked into a hotel for a minimum of two nights and posed as ordinary guests. Once there, they tested up to 900 objective, exacting standards that covered everything from whether a staff member greets you curbside within 30 seconds of pulling up in a car to whether housekeeping arranges toiletries on top of high-quality underliners on the counter.

The ratings emphasize graciousness, thoughtfulness and personalized service: 75 percent of a hotel’s score is based on its level of service, while 25 percent is determined by the quality of its facilities (for more on how a hotel earns a rating, click here).

The Philippines’ 13 Forbes Star Awardees were tallied among the best 21 new Five-Star, 49 new Four-Star and 62 new Recommended hotels.
