Pinoy netizens went on twitter to send sweet, hopeful, and at times funny messages to their loved ones who are quarantined with them or in other areas.

Social media-savvy Pinoys went on Twitter today to show how they cope with the community quarantine to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease. , sending the hashtag #LoveInTheTimeofQuarantine to trending status.

Filipinos sent the hashtag to Twitter trending on Monday, March 30, 2020, after tweeting their sweet, hopeful, and at times funny messages to their loved ones who are quarantined with them or in other areas. Monster RX93.1 started the hashtag as part of their show.

The community quarantine might have caused partners to physically distance themselves from each other but these tweets were still able to express and spread the love over the distance in creative ways. The long-distance relationships bloomed while using the hashtag #LoveInTheTimeofQuarantine.

“#LoveInTheTimeOfQuarantine 10-15 years from now a lot of kids will ask, “Bakit kaya ang dami natin na may birthday ng December?” #TheMorningRush” @TheBatFlyOne tweeted and became one of Monster RX93.1’s top tweets.

“#LoveIntheTimeofQuarantine We promised na wala munang away, like we usually do. Mostly indulging ourselves in the news, discussing so that we are both informed.” @Angelo31729146 tweeted.

“COVID-19 ka lang. Di mo kami mapipigilan ng jowa ko na mag VID COL sa 19. Anniv namin un e.” @AlbertWesker_28 posted.

@marielcalilong tweeted, “#LoveIntheTimeofQuarantine to bond with your families. #Time is precious and spend it with your loved ones. You are #lucky if you are together in the same house or nearby. Come to think those people whose family is far from them and they can’t spend time with each other.”

#LoveInTheTimeofQuarantine is the Pinoy’s take on another trending hashtag, #LoveInTheTimeOfCoronavirus, which has also been trending around the world.

“You make my bad days become good and my good days become better. Heart exclamation #LoveInTheTimeOfCoronavirus parin kasi miss na kita. See you after the community quarantine.” tweeted by @SAMbisyosaaaaah while she posted a photo of her and boyfriend.

@COCOhernandez tweeted that there is a very powerful way of checking on each other, and that is a call, a text or a chat. He also tweeted “Show some love for society’s FRONTLINERS and people who aren’t fortunate enough to stay at home.”

The two hashtags are inspired from Colombian Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez’s “Love in the Time of Cholera”, a 1985 novel that tackles the love story of the two protagonists whose love affair started by exchanging several love letters, got separated by time and love affairs and rekindled their love for the second time during their old age.

Filipinos on lockdown also went digital over the weekend for the observation of Earth Hour 2020, to show their love for mother nature.

OPM artists have also used social media to show support for the health workers in the frontline of the fight against the pandemic, among them, Ryan Cayabyab’s Bayanihan Musikahan Facebook Live Concert Series and Ben&Ben’s Puhon fundraiser for several efforts in fighting the COVID-19.
