Filipino actor Dingdong Dantes confirmed his lead role in the Filipino adaptation of hit Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun.

The celebrity actor will play the role of Captain Lucas Manalo – the counterpart of Song Joong-Ki’s Captain Yoo Shi Jin a.k.a. “Big Boss” character in the worldwide hit South Korean series.

GMA Network revealed the main cast led by Dantes in a media preview on June 20.

Big Boss’ army buddy “Wolf” will be played by Rocco Nacino as Sergeant Diego Ramos.

Wolf’s love interest is played by Jasmine Curtis-Smith in the role of Lieutenant Moira Defensor.

The Philippine version of Descendants of the Sun will also include Chariz Solomon, Hailey Mendes, Jon Lucas, Lucho Ayala, Paul Salas, Prince Clemente, and Renz Fernandez.

Descendant of the Sun’s original storyline is a love story between Captain Yoo Shi Jin of the Korean Special Forces and Doctor Kang Mo Yeon of Haesung Hospital. The relationship is tested by war and disaster.

GMA Network also reported that the Filipino adaptation is working with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The love interest of Big Boss, Song Hye-Ko’s Doctor Kang Mo Yeon and now Dr. Maxine Kang in the Filipino version of Descendants of the Sun, has yet to be announced.
