Philippine Science High School System (PSHS) and De La Salle University (DLSU) students bagged two medals and two honors in the 54th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) hosted remotely from China.

All four members of the Philippine national team comprised of students from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) – Main Campus, PSHS – Central Luzon Campus, and De La Salle University (DLSU) Integrated School Senior High School (SHS) took home medals and honors in the annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry pupils held online from Tianjin, China.

The Filipino students received two bronze medals and two honorable mentions from the 2022 IChO.

The 2022 IChO Bronze Medal winners from the Philippines are:

  • Aames Juriel Morales (DLSU Integrated School SHS Manila)
  • Ron Angelo Gelacio (PSHS – Main Campus)

Two (2) Honorable Mentions were awarded to the following:

  • Lemuel Acosta (PSHS – Central Luzon Campus)
  • Anne Maricar Maralit (PSHS – Main Campus)

Gelacio and Morales represented the Philippines in last year’s IChO in Japan and previously won silver and bronze medals, respectively.

The Philippines’ IChO representatives competed amongst students from 84 participating countries and regions around the world in the International Chemistry Olympiad held from July 10 to 18, 2022.

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry students. Every year, nations around the world send a team of four who are tested on their chemistry knowledge and skills in a five-hour laboratory practical and five-hour written theoretical examination.

The Filipino chemistry wizards were chosen as the country’s delegates to the international science tilt after winning gold medals in the 21st Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad (PNCO).

Philippine high school students recently won awards in the 52nd International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) organized online in Switzerland.

Philippine high schools bagged two medals and four awards in this year’s International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the oldest and most prestigious of the international scientific Olympiads, held in Oslo, Norway.

SEND CONGRATULATIONS in the comments below to DLSU and PSHS students of Team Philippines for winning medals and awards in this year’s International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) hosted remotely from China!
