The Mark Strong and Eva Green new thriller film, Nocebo, is also starring Chai Fonacier as a Filipino caregiver.

Award-winning Filipina actress Chai Fonacier joins the Hollywood actors in the upcoming psychological thriller film presented as the first co-production between Ireland and the Philippines.

According to a report by Variety on February 25, 2021, Chai plays a Filipino caregiver in the film who tries to help a fashion designer (Green) by using traditional folk healing on her.

The film, set between London and Manila, is directed by “Vivarium” director Lorcan Finnegan and written by Garret Shanley. It is produced by Brunella Cocchiglia for Lovely Productions and Emily Leo for Wild Swim Films alongside Filipino co-producers Bianca Balbuena (Hele) and Bradley Liew of Epic Media.

In a previous Facebook post, Balbuena confirmed earlier in February that the Pinay actress is now in Dublin, Ireland together with Green and Strong for the production of Finnegan’s new film, “Nocebo.”

Filipina theater and film actor Chai Fonacier is popularly known for her work in the films “Respeto”, “Asuang,” “Pauwi Na”, and “Patay na si Hesus,” which won her the Best Supporting Actress distinction in the 35th Luna Awards 2017.

French actor Eva Green starred in the James Bond film “Casino Royale” as Vesper Lynd and portrays the lead character in Showtime’s television series “Penny Dreadful.”

BAFTA-nominated actor Mark Strong is best known for roles in “1917,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” “Shazam,” and “Zero Dark Thirty.” He stars in the forthcoming live-action feature film “Cruella” and leads the Sky drama “Temple.”

“Nocebo” is supported by the Film Development Council of the Philippines and their new International Co-production Fund (ICOF).

The film’s release date has not been announced yet.

Actors playing Filipino characters in international productions include Mon Confiado who plays a Filipino in the upcoming suspense-action-packed international film, Turncoat, and Filipino-American Darren Criss who plays a Fil-Am in the Netflix series, Hollywood.
