The new tourism campaign of the Philippines has kicked off with a call for travelers to send in their photos of the Philippines to comprise the 100% crowd-sourced content with the refreshed #itsmorefuninthePhilippines slogan.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) launched the new campaign on February 18 at the National Museum of Natural History in Manila featuring crowd-sourced photos and videos contributed for free. DOT says every contributed photo to the new tourism campaign will be equal to a donation to the World Wide Fund.

The new campaign also showcased a redesigned logo and a Filipino-made font.

DOT proudly bannered the first of its 100% crowd-sourced videos—”zero shot footage, zero paid actors, smaller carbon footprint!”

In its social media posts, DOT encouraged netizens to use the font in their travel photos and videos to get the chance to be featured in their upcoming promotional materials.

“It’s more fun when you’re part of it! Check out the 1st of our 100% crowd-sourced videos. For every image used, a donation was made for the care of our environment. Post your local travel photos with #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines and you might just appear in our next videos, too!”

DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat asked everyone to join the multitudes of netizens who are now using the hashtag and Barabara in their photos.

“Millions have shared why it’s more fun in the Philippines. This inspired us to let you tell the rest of the world why. For our campaign, we’ve decided to feature only photos, videos and reviews that you have allowed us to share and develop a truly 100% crowd-sourced tourism campaign using content that you have created.”

The tourism campaign logo with a new look is derived from local textile of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It is a simplified “banig” containing Filipino traditional colors – blue, red, yellow – signifying “weaving the Philippines together.”

From using “Harabara” font in its previous tourism campaign, DOT unveiled its new font “Barabara” – a custom-made typeface readable for everyone – which was inspired from hand-painted jeepney and street signs that can be found all over the country.

Barabara, a Filipino-made font with 27 characters and local symbols is downloadable from DOT’s campaign website www.itsmorefuninthephilippines.com for free.
