The University of the Philippines’ (UP) highest grade holder, Tiffany Uy, has once again proven her academic excellence as she topped the UP College of Medicine Class of 2020.
Uy graduated Magna cum laude and received the Faculty Gold Medal as the class valedictorian during the 111th Commencement Exercises of the UP College of Medicine in a virtual ceremony held on July 26, 2020.
Prior to Uy’s new achievement, the young doctor made history in June 2015, after earning a near-perfect general weighted average (GWA) of 1.004 – the highest-ever recorded grade in UP’s history since World War II.
Uy, who graduated summa-cum-laude in 2015 with a degree in BS Biology, bested the 1.016 GWA of John Gabriel Pelias, a BS Mathematics graduate in 2011.
The highest GWA ever earned by a UP graduate was a flat 1.0 made by Exequiel Sevilla who graduated with a degree in B.S. Commerce major in Business Administration, summa cum laude, in 1927.
Tiffany Uy says she pursued medicine to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor like her parents.
The UP Diliman alumna is on the Twitter top trending list in the Philippines with netizens commending her excellence in academics and apparently “perfect life.” Here are some of the colorful tweets:
Tiffany Uy is like the character you read in fictions – straight As, studies in a prestigious university, outright pretty, has a strong academic outlook, walks with an oozing confidence of being able to answer whatever question you throw at her because she studies every night.

The University of the Philippines had its first virtual graduation on July 26.
The country’s premier university continues to produce outstanding individuals in different fields like UP alumna Luisa Igloria who was named Virginia state’s Poet Laureate, and young legislator Sarah Jane Ibañez Elago has been named the recipient of the prestigious One Young World (OYW) Politician of the Year Award in Germany.
