University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses player Caitlyn Viray is helping Cavite families who have not yet been reached by the support of the local government.
The volleyball player went to Molino 4 in Bacoor, Cavite last April 19, 2020, to deliver the first batch of 166 bags of relief goods for the families heavily affected by the lockdown. Viray had the help of the Cavite Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in distributing the relief packs.
Viray said in her social media post that with the money she donated herself, from her major sponsor Alpha Kappa Rho (AKRHO), her family, and her partner Kris Roy Guzman of the Golden Spikers, they were able to distribute the following relief goods per bag:
3 kg rice
1 Nissin cup noodles
1 Vienna sausage
1 Century tuna
1 corned beef
4 pcs coffee per bag
“After giving out the first batch, we noticed that there are still a lot of families who need help which urged us to conduct another relief operation” Caitlyn announced.
For their second batch of relief goods, Viray says they are planning to raise at least another 50,000 pesos.

UST and DOST are collaborating to deploy LISA robots to lessen COVID-19 risks for health workers and is also involved in producing face shields using 3D printers.
UST is among the four higher education institutions in the Philippines that have scored high on the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2019, and more recently received topnotcher honors in the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) Architect Licensure Examination.
