Hollywood celebrity and singer Selena Gomez will be showing fans how to prepare the iconic Filipino adobo dish in the second season of her HBO Max cooking show, Selena + Chef.

Selena Gomez whipped up the well-known national dish of the Philippines with the help of professional chef Jordan Andino, the Filipino cuisine expert and host of “Late Nite Eats” on the Cooking Channel.

In the recently released Selena + Chef trailer, Filipino-American celebrity chef Jordan Andino was shown calling his grandmother who critiqued his and Selena’s adobo which is a Filipino dish of chicken or pork marinated in vinegar and soy sauce.

“How do you think it looks?” Selena asked.

Andino’s grandmother casually replied: “It’s okay,” which was met with laughter from Selena and her show’s guests.

“As you all know by now, I’m not the best cook,” Selena Gomez confesses in the voice-over. “But I’m not going to stop trying to get better. So I’m back in my kitchen to get schooled by the best chefs.”

Multi-platinum selling recording artist Selena Gomez started the unscripted cooking series while she was stuck at home in quarantine. Like its first season, each episode ends with the guest chef talking about a charity they support and what it means to them.

The new all-star chefs featured in season two including Andino are Aarti Sequeira, Curtis Stone, Evan Funke, Graham Elliot, JJ Johnson, José Andrés, Kelis Rogers, Marcela Valladolid, and Marcus Samuelsson.

The second season of Selena Gomez’s show will be up on the streaming service HBO Max starting with its first three episodes on Thursday, January 21, 2021. The rest of the series will follow on January 28 and February 4.

Another Filipino professional chef who was featured on an international cooking show by a Hollywood celebrity is New York-based Filipina chef Pilar Valdes who was a guest on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
