Netflix Philippines has released Julie Anne San Jose’s cover of “Rocket to the Moon”, the lead single from the streaming giant’s new animated film, “Over The Moon”.

The Filipina actress-singer lent her powerful vocals to cover the official theme song from the Netflix film which debuted the music video with Julie Anne San Jose on October 28, 2020.

“All aboard, we’re flying away! Let Julie Anne San Jose’s cover of ‘Rocket To The Moon’ from ‘Over The Moon’ take you to a place that’s filled with wonder and love,” said Netflix in a Facebook post.

The locally produced music video of “Rocket To The Moon” shows the Filipina singer interacting with the colorful characters from the Netflix film while she sings a masterful rendition of the official soundtrack originally performed by Cathy Ang, who is also the Chinese-Filipino-American voice actress behind the lead role in the movie.

“I’m so thankful to Netflix for choosing me to be part of this project and I hope you guys enjoy my cover. I had so much fun filming the music video, and watching the movie!” San Jose wrote in an Instagram post.

“I hope you will enjoy the movie and find inspiration in it. I love how Fei Fei takes us to her journey in discovering the magic of life and love,” the singer added.

The Kapuso sweetheart tagged Cathy Ang in her Instagram post sharing her own take of “Rocket To The Moon”, to which the Netflix actress replied: “AHHHH AMAZING!!!!!” followed by heart emojis. Filipino celebrities and fans also expressed their support and congratulations for San Jose’s new milestone.

“Over The Moon” follows a young girl (Fei Fei) who builds a rocket ship to prove the existence of a legendary Moon Goddess. The musical animated film is directed by animation legend Glen Keane, and produced by Gennie Rim and Peilin Chou, and is now available to watch on Netflix.

Netflix has tapped Filipino talent for international roles, including first Filipina Miss Universe Gloria Diaz who starred in the second season of hit series “Insatiable” while Fil-Am actor Jon Jon Briones played the lead role of a Filipino doctor in the Netflix psychological-horror drama series, “Ratched”.
