Shell Pilipinas Corporation has opened submissions for the 58th Shell National Students Art Competition (NSAC), one of the Philippines’ longest-running and most respected art contests for students.
This year’s theme, “ALAB”—which means “blaze” or “spark”—invites young artists to reflect on the passion, purpose, and identity that ignite their creativity. The nationwide call began on June 6, 2025, and will accept entries until October 6, 2025.
The competition is open to all currently enrolled college students in the Philippines who are taking at least nine academic units for AY 2024–2026. Graduates from AY 2024–2025 are also eligible, provided they created their entries while still enrolled.
Students can submit a maximum of two artworks per category, choosing from five categories: Oil/Acrylic Painting, Watercolor, Sculpture, Digital Fine Arts, and Photography. All entries must be registered individually via the official Shell NSAC platform.
Winning entries will receive cash prizes, limited-edition Shell NSAC merchandise, plaques of recognition, and a chance to be featured in national exhibitions and publications. Schools of first-place winners will also receive a faculty development grant to boost arts programs.
Final judging will take place on November 11–12, 2025, with winners to be revealed at the culminating awards and exhibit event on December 5, 2025.

Shell’s student art platform has produced many of the country’s most celebrated artists, including National Artists Jose Joya, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, Ang Kiukok, and Bencab, as well as contemporary icons Leeroy New and Ronald Ventura.
The 2025 competition is made possible through Shell’s partnerships with Boysen Philippines, IFEX, and Airspeed, along with a wide network of cultural institutions and galleries.
“ALAB” challenges young Filipino artists to go deeper: “What ignites your passion? What creative truth do you want to share?” Shell invites students to answer through their art.
