Filipino Canadian Wins Canada’s Biggest Lotto Jackpot, Vows to Give Back to Those in Need

A Filipino Canadian from Surrey, British Columbia, has made history by winning the largest lottery prize ever awarded to an individual in British Columbia—and in all of Canada.

Justin Simporios won the record-breaking $80 million Lotto Max jackpot from the draw on May 9, 2025, according to an official announcement from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).

In a heartfelt public post on Facebook, Simporios said:

“This incredible blessing is something I never expected, but I truly believe that when life gives you something this big, you don’t just hold onto it—you share it.”

He shared his commitment to use his winnings to help others, outlining how he plans to give back in a big way:

• “Helping those struggling with debt—I know so many people are drowning in bills, loans, and financial stress. I want to ease that burden for as many people as possible.”

• “Supporting families in need—Whether it’s rent, medical expenses, or just putting food on the table, I want to be a helping hand.”

• “Changing lives for the better—If I can help someone get back on their feet, go to school, or just breathe a little easier, then this win will mean even more to me.”

Simporios ended his post with an uplifting message:
