The Philippine Women’s National Ice Hockey Team has just made history, earning their first-ever gold medal at the IIHF Women’s Asia Cup in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. They won all five games, capping their run with a thrilling 5-game sweep over Kyrgyzstan, UAE, Malaysia, India, and Iran in the finals.

In the championship match on June 6, 2025, the Philippines beat Iran 4–2. They overturned a 1–0 deficit with three quick goals early in the second period. Jasmin Alcido scored two of those goals and led the tournament with an impressive 18 goals and 24 points in five games.
The team started strong in the tournament with dominating wins, including a 15–0 rout of Kyrgyzstan, a 6–1 victory over UAE, and an 8–1 win against Malaysia, all at Al Hili Ice Rink. In the semifinals, they defeated India 4–1, led by Illeana Jimenez’s crucial goal.
