Appleboy RJ Garcia is giving away more computer tablets to deserving Filipino students who are facing the new modes of learning in Philippine education.
Garcia’s new charity project had already given away a tablet to the first lucky winner from Ormoc City, Leyte.
Prince Ali Tugonon, a 19-year-old 3rd year Civil Engineering student, won a Samsung Galaxy Tab A after sharing his own story that was deemed deserving of the prize.
“What sets Prince apart from the rest was his unique story of how he struggled as a student and how he remains determined inspite of the odds,” shared Appleboy as he announced the winner on social media on September 3, 2020.
“His parents were separated and neither of them can afford to support his online schooling. They try to make ends meet from what his grandfather gets as a pension,” Garcia adds.
Appleboy RJ then announced another wave of a total of 20 tablets to be given away to deserving students:
- 3 from Luzon
- 3 from the Visayas
- 3 from Mindanao
- 3 from Metro Manila
- 4 Instagram fans
- 4 Tiktok fans
Garcia said his team realizes there are more students who deserve to be given help because of their perseverance to study despite the difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
