The Philippines is set to stage a spectacular world-class show, as the country draws the curtain on the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) at the Athletics Stadium in New Clark City today.

Southeast Asia, a regional group of more than 600 million people, will be treated to a SEA Games closing ceremony extravaganza that they can watch live on TV and social media.

The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) gathered together a cast of stars led by the Black Eyed Peas, Journey’s Arnel Pineda, and KO Jones to entertain viewers around the region and supporters in the 20,000-strong world-class facility.

American rock band ‘Journey’ frontman Arnel Pineda will lead the singing of the Philippine national anthem.

A 45-minute drone show will present the game’s highlights.

The parade of athletes will star the Philippines flag bearer heroic surfer Roger Casugay who was praised by Indonesian President Joko Widodo for saving a fellow surfer during competitions.

To recognize their efforts and contributions in the multi-sport event, all SEA Games volunteers will be acknowledged in the program.

PHISGOC Chairman Alan Peter Cayetano will be handing out four special awards — best male and female athletes, fair play, and the overall championship.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea formally closes the games with the extinguishing of the cauldron fire and turning over the baton to the next host country, Vietnam in 2021.

The closing ceremony will be capped by a spectacular fireworks display.

We Win As One, the theme song of the games has really embodied the unity and sportsmanship of all 11 competing countries in the competition.

At the close of the 2019 SEA Games, the Philippines is the overall medal winner. The 30th edition of the biennial meet began with a grand opening ceremony that showcased Philippine culture on November 30. The closing will be held at 4 pm today at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.
