Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) athletes and spectators who have experienced medal awarding ceremonies at the ongoing biennial meet have heard the SEA Games theme song “We Win As One” ringing through the sports hubs located in Manila, Southern Luzon and La Union, Subic, and at the New Clark City.

The soundtrack of “We Win As One” heralds each announcement of a podium finish at each of the 530 events of the 56 sports in the competition, just before each athlete receives a medal. Needless to say, hearing the strains of the song excites both athletes and spectators at the sporting venue as it signals that a medal is to be awarded.

The angelic yet powerful voice behind the recorded 2019 SEA Games theme is Lea Salonga, the Tony award-winning Broadway star from the Philippines and Disney Legend who has voiced for the stars of hit animated movies, Mulan and Jasmine in Aladdin.

Salonga recorded “We Win As One” under the musical direction of the song’s composer, Filipino National Artist for Music and Original Pilipino Music pioneer, Ryan Cayabyab.

The 2019 SEA Games theme is penned by Palanca award-winning writer Floy Quintos, the director of the 30th SEA Games Opening Ceremony held on November 30 at the Philippine Arena.

The song was performed live by Filipino artists during the grand event that welcomed thousands of athletes, national officials, and spectators from 11 nations that have gathered in the Philippines for the regional games.

We look forward to seeing Lea Salonga perform the SEA Games theme live, perhaps as a fitting end to the Closing Ceremony on December 11, 2019!
