Filipino-American actor Mark Dacascos will be playing the role of “Zero,” the main rival of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick character in one of the most anticipated movie releases this May.

Parabellum, the 3rd installment of the upcoming film, will continue to follow the dangerous life of the main protagonist, John Wick as the antagonist Zero faces Wick.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii to a Filipino dad who is a martial arts instructor and a Irish-Japanese mom, Dacascos was trained to be a martial artist during his childhood and actually holds several martial artist championship titles.

He eventually used his skills to act in action movie genres such as for his role as Giyera (Filipino for “war”) in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as Kung Lao in the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, and as the Crying Freeman.

The actor-martial artist’s performance in the Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) gained a lot of praises and a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Saturn Awards.

Dacascos is also known as the Iron Chef’s chairman in the American and Australian series, where chefs battle it out for the title.
