Rocco Nacino, Janine Gutierrez-starrer films compete for Best Picture at Osaka Asian Film Festival

Three award-winning Filipino movies, LSS, Write About Love, and Babae at Baril will be representing the Philippines in the 2020 Osaka Asian Film Festival.

“Write About Love” starring Rocco Nacino and Janine Gutierrez’s “Babae at Baril” will compete for Best Picture, while Gabbi Garcia’s “LSS” will be in a Special Program screening at the 2020 Osaka Asian Film Festival.

The Nacino and Gutierrez films will vie for the Grand Prix top award among 15 films from all over Asia during the 15th edition of the Japan festival.

The two Pinoy Best Picture contenders also vie for the Most Promising Talent Award at the 2020 Osaka Asian Film Festival to be held from March 6 to 15, 2020.

“Write about Love”, starring Rocco Nacino (Descendants of the Sun) and Miles Ocampo (formerly of Goin’ Bulilit), was an official entry to the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival where it bagged 8 awards.

The movie directed by Crisanto Aquino tells the story about love that blossomed between a young female writer and a veteran male writer and the ensuing entertaining thought processes and sparring of words.

Babae at Baril (The Girl with the Gun)

March 11, 7:05 pm, ABC Hall

“Babae at Baril” was an official entry to the 2019 QCinema International Film Festival. The movie won Gender Sensitivity Award and Best Director for Rae Red.

The award-winning movie also gave the lead star Janine Gutierrez (Gravity) a Best Actress award for her portrayal of a “raos victima” who is taking a revenge.

Meanwhile, the LSS movie top-billed by reel and real-life sweethearts, ABS-CBN Kapamilya singer-actor Khalil Ramos and GMA Kapuso It-girl and Taiwan Tourism Ambassador Gabbi Garcia, has been chosen for screening in the inaugural New Action: South East Asia Section.

Directed by Jade Castro, LSS tells the story of two individuals in their early 20s whose paths cross when both of them were following their favorite indie band, Ben & Ben.

The award-winning movie, produced by Globe Studios and Dokimos Media Inc., was an official entry to Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019.
