Pinoy boy band SB19’s official music video of “What?” that has soared to the No. 1 spot on Twitter trends both in the Philippines and the world and currently the No. 1 Trending Video on YouTube is raising pride in the Philippines’ “watawat” (flag in Filipino) beyond pop culture.

SB19’s new digital single speaks about self-love and empowerment and taking pride and control of one’s own “watawat”. Towards the end of the music video, the Spanish colonial period’s Murillo-Velarde map of the Philippines which has been used to win the international claim for the ownership of the Philippine Sea flashes on the screen.

The message has reached record worldwide audiences after SB19 dropped their new single on March 9, 2021, which has since garnered over two million views after its release on the video streaming platform.

The comeback single hit the milestone as the Filipino boy group also dominated Twitter’s worldwide trends list and various music streaming platforms. The group placed No. 1 on Twitter’s worldwide trends list with “#SB19WHATMVOutNow” on the same day of the music video’s release.

The Billboard Social 50 chart-topper SB19 took to social media to thank fans for their support.

“This one’s for everyone who made this possible. SAKALAM!” SB19 said in their official Twitter account on March 10.

The viral hit also claimed the highest spot on the local music charts of MYX’s Daily Top 10.

The Murillo Velarde Map of the Philippines has been used to successfully claim ownership of the Philippine Sea.

SB19 is a Pinoy pop (P-Pop) boy band composed of five members Sejun, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin.

Also known as Soundbreak19, the group is the first to be trained under a Korean entertainment company in the Philippines and has been gaining worldwide recognition since the band’s debut in 2018.

The all-Filipino boy group started the year strong with another milestone when “Hanggang sa Huli” reached No. 1 in Billboard’s LyricFind Global Chart for the first week of January 2021.
