6 Pinoys are finalists in APEC Photo Competition

The 9 finalists were selected for being the most creative interpretation of the 2019 APEC theme “connecting people, building the future”. Credits to APEC Photo Contest.

Six of the nine finalist photographs for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Photo Contest are from the Philippines.

APEC announced the 9 finalists from the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam, which were selected by the judging panel as the best among entries for the creative interpretation of the 2019 APEC theme, “connecting people, building the future”.

The October 24 announcement also revealed that the photo with the most votes will win the APEC Popular Choice Award and bring home a cash prize of SGD1,000.

The main prize winners will be judged and awarded during the 2019 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week to be held in Santiago, Chile from November 13-14, 2019.

PRIZES AND JUDGING CRITERIA:
First Prize – SGD 2,500
Second Prize – SGD 2,000
Third Prize – SGD 1,500
Popular Choice – SGD 1,000
Instagram Influencer – SGD 1,000

Each photo will be evaluated based on the following criteria: (i) interpretation and message of the photo based on APEC 2019 priorities, (ii) composition and quality, (iii) creativity.

Filipino photographers have earned acclaim around the world, among them, Xyza Cruz Bacani, Fernando Sepe Jr., Mandy Navasero, Jophel Botero Ybiosa, Cheryl Diaz Meyer, and Noel Daganta.

Images from the Philippines have also received awards at the Ocean Art Underwater Photography Contest and at the London National History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
