The Philippines’ champion gymnast Carlos Edriel “Caloy” Yulo copped three golds and a silver medal as he wrapped up a historic campaign at the 9th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar.

The 22-year-old Filipino athlete topped the parallel bars and vault events, tallying 15.167 points and 14.800 points, respectively.

Yulo also won gold in the men’s floor exercise with a score of 14.933, an event he ruled at the Hanoi Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the 2019 World Gymnastics Championships where he earned the historic first Worlds gold for the Philippines. He earlier bagged a silver medal in the men’s individual all-around, the country’s first-ever podium finish in the tournament.

The Filipino gymnastics star has also qualified for the upcoming World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool, United Kingdom, after dominating the continental tilt held from June 15 to 18, 2022, at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar.

Yulo is set to compete in the World Championships in Liverpool which is scheduled to be held from October 29 to November 6.

Carlos Yulo earlier delivered a historic first for the country with a bronze in the World Gymnastics Championships in Doha, Qatar, before his breakthrough gold medal in the 2019 Worlds in Germany.

He claimed his second World Gymnastics championship with gold, silver, and a top 5 finish at the 2021 Fédération Internationale Gymnastique Artistic Gymnastics World Championships (FIG Worlds) in Japan.
