Make-A-Wish Philippines has joined forces with GMG Productions to stage a special fundraising performance of the Broadway musical Come From Away to help grant wishes for Filipino children with critical illnesses.
The musical, inspired by true events, tells the story of how the small town of Gander, Newfoundland welcomed 7,000 stranded passengers after the September 11 attacks. One of those grounded planes carried children with life-threatening illnesses en route to Disney World through a Make-A-Wish flight.
When their trip was delayed, the townspeople organized a joyful party for the kids—complete with mascots, music, and clowns—highlighting the compassion and generosity that Come From Away celebrates on stage.
Directed by Michael Williams, the musical has been locally adapted and will have its special Make-A-Wish performance on June 27 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati. A limited number of VIP tickets are available, with proceeds going directly to supporting the wishes of children battling serious medical conditions.
“We are happy to partner with GMG Productions for this acclaimed musical, and to share the same values of kindness and generosity as the story that people will see on stage,” said Aleah Ortiz, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish® Philippines. “Like the town of Gander, Newfoundland coming together to help strangers, we also believe in the power of community and wishes to help change the lives of our beneficiaries.”
The cast invites you to watch the show:
Now in its 25th year, Make-A-Wish® Philippines aims to grant 525 wishes in 2025. Recently, the foundation fulfilled the dreams of Kiv (age 5) and Betsy (age 13) to meet Filipino pop group SB19. The organization has also partnered with COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises to amplify its message and anniversary campaign.
