Celebrity philanthropist Angel Locsin’s Shop and Share store has pooled PHP 6 million from donations of 44 Filipino celebrities to help provide COVID-19 vaccine and testing for workers and the urban poor in the Philippines.

Asia’s Hero of Philanthropy awardee and humanitarian aid worker Angel Locsin shared on Instagram about the fund raised by local entertainment personalities through the Shop and Share online store which auctioned pre-loved celebrity items for a cause.

“In hopes of truly flattening the curve and helping our kababayans who are most in need, in the sectors of the urban poor and working groups, we have decided it is best to donate the rest of the proceeds of Shop and Share to LGUs and an organization that now have solid COVID-19 Vaccination initiatives for members of their communities. This is in addition to the funding of COVID-19 tests conducted last year,” Angel Locsin wrote in an Instagram post on March 25, 2021.

The Shop and Share proceeds amounting to PHP 6,000,000 will be divided among five cities and a charity organization that are active in the fight against the coronavirus disease, namely:

  1. Baguio City
  2. Taguig City
  3. Quezon City
  4. Manila City
  5. Pasig City
  6. Philippine Red Cross

“Again, we thank you for your support and please know that your contributions will help our fellow Filipinos who are most in need,” Angel Locsin added.

Last year, the award-winning actress nicknamed locally a “real-life Angel and Darna” announced the revival of the Shop and Share auction which was first held in 2009 to help in Typhoon Ondoy relief efforts.

Shop and Share auctioned donations from actors, singers, and basketball players, including designer bags, clothes, jewelry, and other celebrity items on eBay with proceeds going to the Philippine Red Cross.
