Filipino-American content creator Bretman Rock has won the Digital Influencer Award at the Unforgettable Gala’s 20th Annual Asian American Awards for inspiring members of the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community and beyond.
The reality TV star was among the award recipients of the Unforgettable Gala, the United States’ largest and longest-running Asian and Pacific Islander awards show.
Bretman Rock received praise from the awards body for “being outspoken” for the API and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities and encouraging his millions of followers to be their true selves.
“Just like my destiny it was UNFORGETTABLE 💅🏽🇵🇭 thank you for having me @character.media and honoring da Baddest for Digital Influencer award ! Will continue to be Me Af, Gay Af and FILIPINO AF,” Bretman Rock wrote in an Instagram post.
The famous beauty vlogger received the Digital Influencer Award presented by fellow Fil-Am global superstar Bella Poarch and beauty influencer Michelle Phan at the awards show in December 2022.
In his acceptance speech, Rock talked about Filipino representation and recalled growing up watching Philippine shows on television.
“Everything I absorbed on TV was Filipino people. So, I was always seeing myself on TV,” Rock said in his speech.
Rock said he would be lying if he said he never saw himself on television as he grew up watching shows on The Filipino Channel (TFC) with his mom.
“So that’s why when people say, ‘I never saw myself on TV,’ girl change the channel,” the social media star joked.

The Unforgettable Gala spotlighted Asian Pacific Islander creatives and leaders in entertainment, the arts and culture, and was hosted by “Easter Sunday” and Marvel Studios’ “Loki” actress Eugene Cordero, the first Filipino to host the awards show.
Bretman Rock previously dedicated his first-ever Breakthrough Social Star award won in 2021 at the MTV Awards and his 2019 Beauty Influencer E! People’s Choice Award to members of the AAPI community.
