Olivia Rodrigo, Bruno Mars lead Fil-Am artists nominated in iHeartRadio Music Awards

Singers Olivia Rodrigo, Bruno Mars, H.E.R., Bella Poarch, Saweetie, and Silk Sonic are the musicians of Filipino descent nominated in this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The five proudly Filipino-American artists are among the nominees of the awards which will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles in March 2022.

The ninth annual iHeartRadio Music Awards celebrates this year’s most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and the iHeartRadio app.

Fans from eligible locations will be able to vote for the winners in the fan-voted categories of the awards. Voting began on January 27 and will end on March 15, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (PT) for all categories.

Fans can vote on Twitter using the appropriate category and nominee hashtags or by visiting the iHeartRadio website.

Here are the five proudly Filipino-American artists who have bagged nominations in the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards:

8 for Olivia Rodrigo

Teenage pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo leads her fellow Filipino nominees in this year’s edition of the iHeartRadio Music Awards after receiving multiple nominations.

The Billboard Charts’ Woman of the Year Olivia Rodrigo is nominated in the following categories:

  • Song of the Year: “drivers license” – Olivia Rodrigo
  • Female Artist of the Year
  • Best New Pop Artist
  • Best Lyrics: -“deja vu” – Olivia Rodrigo, -“drivers license” – Olivia Rodrigo *Socially Voted Category

6 for Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic

Multiple Grammy winner Bruno Mars‘ collaboration with American artist Anderson .Paak as the Silk Sonic duo bagged multiple nominations in the awards.

Award-winning musician H.E.R. picked up two nominations for R&B Artist of the Year and R&B Song of the Year for her hit single, “Damage”.

2 for Bella Poarch

Filipina-American TikTok sensation Bella Poarch bagged nominations in two socially-voted categories at the awards.

  • Best Music Video: “Build a Btch” – Bella Poarch Socially Voted Category
  • Social Star Award: *Socially Voted Category

1 for Saweetie

Grammy-nominated rapper Saweetie, who made headlines as she honored her Filipino roots at her Met Gala debut, was honored with a nomination in the best collaboration category for her song “Best Friend.”

  • Best Collaboration: “Best Friend” – Saweetie featuring Doja Cat

Five proudly Filipino-American artists Saweetie, H.E.R., Olivia Rodrigo, Bruno Mars, and Robert Lopez with wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez bagged a total of 22 top nominations in the 64th Grammy Awards rescheduled in April.
