Three siblings from De La Salle Lipa brought pride to the Philippines after winning gold and silver medals at the 2025 Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA), held in Incheon, South Korea.
Representing the country together, siblings Arcell Luis, Lourdes Anne, and Aldwin Luke Jaen stood out among thousands of participants at the GELOSEA International Round organized by the Global League of Winners (GLOW), Inc. The academic Olympiad ran from April 2 to 5, 2025, and featured student delegations from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
The Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA) is an international competition for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, covering six Primary Levels, four Secondary Levels, and one Senior Secondary Level. It aims to promote English language excellence and proficiency through friendly global competitions, while also supporting Southeast Asian tourism in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and other partner countries worldwide.
The Jaen siblings, all enrolled at De La Salle Lipa, each earned honors in their respective levels:
- Arcell Luis H. Jaen, Primary 6 Level – Silver Award
- Lourdes Anne H. Jaen, Senior Secondary Level – Gold Award
- Aldwin Luke H. Jaen, Senior Secondary Level – Silver Award
In a message to Good News Pilipinas, Lourdes Anne Jaen shared,
“I, along with my siblings, recently had the honor of representing the Philippines at the GELOSEA-SEACSO International Round… I’m grateful and proud to share that the De La Salle Lipa delegation brought home gold and silver awards.”
GLOW, Inc., a global nonprofit group known for organizing Olympiads to discover young scholars, also thanked the school and the learners’ parents for their support.
“These events are managed by passionate individuals who seek to discover exceptional skills and intelligence worthy of being the organization’s future scholars,” said Engr. Elizabeth Rodriguez, Chief Executive Officer of GLOW.
