The CompanY and World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF Philippines) staged an online concert that successfully raised funds for rain-collecting water tanks to be donated to communities without water systems in Masbate and Sorsogon.

Asia’s premier vocal harmony group composed of Moy Ortiz, Annie Quintos, Sweet Plantado, and OJ Mariano performed for online audiences on June 9, 2020, singing their best-loved hits and other pop classics while encouraging people to donate to the WWF fundraiser for environmental frontliners of the conservation spots.

The online concert fundraiser also featured WWF celebrity ambassadors Iza Calzado, Karen Ibasco, and Rovilson Fernandez making special appearances to call for donations for environmental workers.

The energy from the quartet was palpable even as they were individually performing from their own homes while under community quarantine to stop the spread of coronavirus disease. The concert, despite not being the usual live event in a music hall, gave off the same The CompanY vibes of fun and excellence on stage.

The online event also presented The CompanY’s latest single “Isang Tawag Mo Lang (Just One Call)” composed by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab and dedicated it to the families of the beneficiary communities.

The vocal group that marks its 35th anniversary this year also performed their first hit, “Everlasting Love”.

The two-hour Facebook Live concert of The CompanY titled “Conservatunes” successfully raised and even went beyond their target to buy four rain collecting water tanks for the barangays Boca Engaño in Claveria, Burias Island, and Barangay Donsol in Sorsogon, best known as a sanctuary for whale sharks.

The popular travel destination has been severely hit with the economic and environmental consequences brought by the pandemic. The beneficiary communities without potable water systems are involved in the continued care of the environment despite the difficulties brought on by the public health crisis.

WWF explains the mission: “To be healthy and safe from the virus, proper washing and hygiene protocols need to be followed, which means that they would need consistent sources of water.”

“The barangays will now have the convenience of drinking water in 2020!!” excitedly shared Moy Ortiz with Good News Pilipinas.

WWF Philippines project fundraiser in the Bicol Region consists of the construction of rain-collecting water tanks, the turnover of solar lights, food assistance, and livelihood equipment for the local communities.

The CompanY, known for its unique harmony, was also featured in Pinoy Playlist and the Sana Naman, Taumbayan unity song.
