Kevin Kwan, author of the 2013 bestselling novel that has been adapted into film by Jon M. Chu, described Aquino’s role in an interview with Milken Institute saying, “She’s a highlight of the movie… we’re lucky to have her in the movie.”

In an Instagram post Aquino thanked the author for the positive reference saying, “ what more could a girl who only dreamed of this say but- THANK YOU Kevin, for the affirmation, but more importantly for appreciating that we Filipinos are @crazyrichasians #superfans.”

The Filipino actor posted the exclusive snapshot of her pivotal scene with CRA lead character Constance Wu, adding that her gown was created by celebrated couture Michael Cinco who has been dressing up Hollywood celebrities, beauty titlists, and has been featured in the Parish Fashion Week.

CRA is the first Hollywood film in 25 years that casts an all-Asian-American ensemble and is highly anticipated to duplicate the feat of Disney’s “The Joy Luck Club” as a major contribution to the lobbying for Asian representation in Hollywood films.

The romantic comedy movie has given a major role to Fil-Am actor Nico Santos who plays Mateo in the NBC TV hit series “Superstore.” In CRA, Santos has taken on the character of Oliver T’sien – “Nick’s friendly and fashionable cousin who helps guide Rachel through life with his family and Singaporean high society.”

Nico Santos and Kris Aquino will be seen on Crazy Rich Asians on its worldwide release in 60 countries across continents beginning in U.S. theaters on August 15, and in the Philippines on August 22.
