National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star player Stephen Curry wrapped up his second visit to the Philippines in September saying he hopes to continue coming to the country.

Curry, two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Golden State Warriors, was in the country from September 6-8 for the first stop of his Under Armour Asian Tour. Under Amour tweeted the reason for choosing the Philippines as Curry’s first stop – “Basketball is a way of life in the Philippines.”

The Warriors point guard was met by local fans at the airport, prompting him to say, “Coming out of the airport seeing like 250 fans trying to get a picture and something like that is the part that I still want to enjoy.”

At a press conference in BGC, Curry noted the warm welcome and support he has been receiving from Filipino fans as his reason for wanting to come back to the Philippines.

“There is so much love and support for me from the fans here in the Philippines and I appreciate that sincerely. I appreciate the support on social media,” the 3-time World Champion said to media.

“That’s why I look forward to coming back here and hopefully, it continues,” Curry added.

Curry took a tour around Manila riding the iconic Filipino jeepney – a staple experience given to celebrities visiting the Philippines including Riverdale stars, Coldplay, and the Pope – as he surveyed the local sights.

Another visitor-must experience in the Philippines given to Curry was a taste test of the Filipino “halo-halo” dessert of shaved ice, yam, and fruits which has even the likes of Anthony Bourdain gushing over its flavor.

While in the country, Curry participated in the Under Armour Southeast Asia 3×3 competition at the Mall of Asia Arena where he and his father Dell Curry won against other father and son/daughter teams.

Curry’s last activity in the Philippines was to lead the student athletes in their oath of sportsmanship at the 81st University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season.
