Twitter Q&A today is presenting Filipino international broadcast journalist Rico Hizon on its World Press Freedom Day special today, May 8.

The Twitter event dubbed #ThankAJournalist honors the world’s news personalities for contributions to keep the world informed.

The acclaimed former BBC World News presenter previously based in Singapore recently moved back to the Philippines and took the post of Senior Anchor of CNN Philippines.

The Asian TV awardee and Walk of Fame star recipient returned to the country after 25 years overseas delivering the news for global news corporations BBC News and CNBC.

Rico Hizon has interviewed the world’s major personalities in the financial, political, sporting, entertainment. He is known to be a champion of Filipino Pride stories such as Jollibee’s Tony Tan Caktiong, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza of the AlDub tandem, Broadway royalty Lea Salonga, and even teamed up with British Broadcasting Corporation wildlife reporter Mike Dilger in a journey to showcase the best of the Philippines.

Hizon also recently participated in the #GoodLight Message of Hope campaign of Good News Pilipinas and the Liter of Light to encourage others to help in COVID-19 relief efforts.

Rico Hizon goes on-air and online for his nightly English Newscast via a virtual newsroom on CNN Philippines Channel 9 on free TV, Facebook, and social media at 9 p.m., pitting the international broadcast journalist in the same timeslot with Jessica Soho of GMA Network, the local news organization where he started his career in 1988.
